  • Texas Utility Solutions is an Electric Reliability Council of Texas(ERCOT) Market participant. TUS is neither a Retail Electric Provider(REP) nor a Transmission Distribution Service Provider (TDSP). TUS is a Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE). A QSEs role is to submit Balanced Schedules and Ancillary Services bids and settle payments with ERCOT. The TUS Smart Meter program is available to you as a Commercial and Industrial customer under the ERCOT Protocols and Public Utility Commission of Texas Substanative Rules. This program has been in existance since January 1, 2004 however, TUS as your agent is the first market participant to advocate for the end user in the ERCOT region. Your REP may not be aware of this program so for reference we would suggest www.ercot.com. If your company have facilities in other areas of the country, TUS could help in the  following markets: http://www.ferc.gov/market-oversight/mkt-electric/overview.asp

Smart Grid is a transformed electricity transmission and distribution network or grid that uses two-way communications, advanced sensors, and distrbuted computers to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety of power delivery and use. Deploying the Smart Grid became the policy of the United States with passage of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007

Benefits of the Smart Meter(Smart Grid):

Fewer interruptions. Collects meter data without setting foot on your property and interrupting your schedule.
Faster power restoration. The ability to pinpoint power outages and restore your power faster.
Problem resolution. Resolve service problems more easily and, in many cases, without having a service person vist your business.
Better billing. You no longer have to depend on in-person meter readings, nor have to estimate your bill when we can't access your meter.
Energy usage data. You'll be able to monitor your own energy usage hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly via the internet and see when you're using the most energy, all in realtime.
New rate optionsAs. a result of the smart meter (smart grid) program, you will also be able to use more rate choices designed to meet your needs. When these become available, you will be able to better manage your energy consumption and control your energy.
